online aa, new but same?

This has been a rough week on me. Been having this conflict with my ex and she is drinking heavily, wants to leave but no money cause it goes to the bar. She wrecked into the garage again and had to be helped up the stairs at 3 am a few days ago. She has 3 high school age children and sometimes just doesn't come home to take em to school. Now I have a really good idea of what others went through in my addictions, and how hard it is to watch and have help refused. It only makes me stronger to not drink. Now if I could just quit smoking cigarettes :) my name isn't yolocolo, but I am an addict. Just for today self, just for at this very moment, I will make the choice to better my attitude and the rest will follow, stay clean, stay sober, and stay humble. God bless all who read this and know that you aren't alone, we are all in this together.

For Today

For Today --

The alcoholic is like a tornado roaring his way through the lives
of others. Hearts are broken. Sweet relationships are dead.
Affections have been uprooted. Selfish and inconsiderate
habits have kept the home in turmoil.

-- Alcoholics Anonymous, page 82

''l kept asking Clarence why our world seemed to be collapsing
and everything seemed so shitty. And he'd say: "That's the way
it goes. But don't forget, it goes the other way too.'' That's the
way romance is. Usually that's the way it goes. But every once
in a while, it goes the other way too."

-- Alabama, (Patricia Arquette), True Romance

***********************************************************

There is a solution. Almost none of us liked the self-searching,
the leveling of our pride, the confession of shortcomings which
the process requires for its successful consummation. But we
saw that it really worked in others, and we had come to believe
in the hopelessness and futility of life as we had been living it.

For Today

For Today --

When, therefore, we speak to you of God, we mean your own
conception of God. This applies, too, to other spiritual
expressions which you find in this book. Do not let any prejudice
you may have against spiritual terms deter you from honestly
asking yourself what they mean to you. At the start, this was all
we needed to commence spiritual growth, to effect our first
conscious relation with God as we understood Him.

-- Alcoholics Anonymous, page 47

***********************************************************

A good theologian says almost nothing about God. The notion of
God can keep you from touching God as love, wisdom, and nonfear.

Thich Nhat Hahn

***********************************************************

There is only one thing you need to know about God—There is one;
it isn’t you.

For Today

Men and women drink essentially because they like the effect
produced by alcohol. The sensation is so elusive that, while
they admit it is injurious, they cannot after a time differentiate
the true from the false. To them, their alcoholic life seems the
only normal one. They are restless, irritable and discontented,
unless they can again experience the sense of ease and comfort
which comes at once by taking a few drinks—drinks which they
see others taking with impunity.

-- The Doctor’s Opinion, Alcoholics Anonymous

***********************************************************************************

His craving for alcohol was the equivalent, on a low level, of the
spiritual thirst of our being for wholeness, expressed in medieval
language: the union with God.

-- excerpt from a January 30, 1961 letter to Bill W. from Dr. Carl Jung

Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not
fish they are after.

single in sobriety

It's a new life...The best life I could ask for, but to be single and ready for a relationship is never an easy task. How do I explain my years out of touch with reality? I'm a better person than I've ever dreamed I could become, but it's time for me to finally share my life with someone...God, I hope that happens soon...

Glad to be Sober

It was a year and nine months last month, and I'm in the land of the living, writing a book and looking forward to a new year of sobriety.
Right now, I'm also trying to find a man through two dating sites with my new computer. Life is finally good and I see the world through new eyes!wow

Meditation is something which can always be further developed.
It has no boundaries, either of width or height. Aided by such
instruction and example as we can find, it is essentially an
individual adventure, something which each one of us
works out in his own way.
