Im new,hello!

Hi there,
My name is Cheri and I have two big dogs.
First is "Dutch e boy" he is a 7 year old Golden retriever, sweet as pie, howls to communicate, freaks people out ,they think he is being mean ,but that's just how he talks.
Second is about a year old now and his name is "DUKE" after john Wayne the actor. He is large, but not fat,and very much still in the puppy phase of his life, very o*al,loves to chew. Each dog weighs in about 80-95 lbs. I have a knack for picking the big ones. Oh and we also have a cat,but that's a different group isn't it? wink*

Hi everyone

I've been in CS for a while but never know there are some other things interesting here like forums and groups. I'm a dog lover and I'm fond of all types of dogs. I haven't got one yet but I'd like to listen to your stories about your dog friends. So may I join you sharing your experiences? Thankshandshake

Greyhound...

..anyone familiar with this breed? From the research I've done it's a remarkable animal. Very sweet disposition..etc & I'm very drawn toward this breed now. I plan to adopt a female ex-racer from a rescue group that brings them in from the States. I'd appreciate any feedback..thanks :)

Just wanting to share this too: Our last dog was a real sweatheart, Yorkie/Chi mix "Kiwi"..she was so smart! My son's heart was crushed when she passed away, 4 yrs. ago, but we have 14 yrs of great memories of us sharing our lives together. She always made us laugh..such a clown!

Dudley the Dachshund

Hello fellow dog lovers! I recently adopted a dachshund from the county shelter and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. Dudley is estimated to be around ten years old, is in pretty good health, and was neutered at the facility (required for adoption). He's generally very sweet and loves people, but he also bites (very fast and just as hard as he can!!!) in reaction to anything he doesn't like. The county picked him up as a stray and couldn't really tell me much about him that I could share with you. For now, I'm keeping him totally off-limits to children and warning all adults to "love on him at their own risk". Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

RE: newbie

That's right!!! You just can't trust anyone that dosn't like animals. Watch how your dog reacts to the people around you, they are much better judges of people than we are. The first thing I do when I meet a new person is wacth how "ruby" reacts to them. I trust hr judgement.

Dog Lovers?

I can't even think of anyone I know that isn't a dog lover! I have to pit mix's 4 small dogs and 4 cat's (or play toy's as the pitt's like to think of them) I keep one on the truck with me at all times(she's the one on the right as you look at my profile pic. Her name is Ruby, she's a rescue dog, as is another one of ours( the other dog in my pic) her name is "Itty Bit" we also have a minpin who's name is "little man". The cat's being cats come and go, sometimes they bring "friends " home for the weekend and with the coons that make the nightly raid on the outdoor cat food, it's fun trying to get any sleep. But I wouldn't change a thing. I wacth the deer and elk migrate thru the yard in the winter, we've been known to have to kick them out of the way to get to the truck. I've run my mouth enough for now ,have a great day!wave

RE: My dog Sue

Hello Josey69

I can relate with how you feel. They give us so much it is hard to let go. My advise is to remember Sue in the good days. You may want to buy a plant in her honor and watch it grow. That has helped me in the past.

I would love to see a picture of her.

Take care,

My dog Sue

Hello, I just wanted to dedicate a post to my dear dog "Sue" She passed away almost two years ago, and I must say I am still grieving. I adoped her from people who where living in a downstairs apartment. They didn't want her anymore because she had mange. She was also very mistreated. She was the most sweetest and loving dog ever. RE: Help!. How do i get my dogs to like each other

I would suggest that when you are around not to be overly afectonate with either dog. when your older dog behaves appropriate give her a treat but act normal and try not to get eitther dog excited. I just brought home Roo a australian cattle dog. We have a rat terior corky and he is really jelous of roo. when cork acts up we ignore him and roo basically does the same. she has really good dog to dog skills.

Help!. How do i get my dogs to like each other

I posted on here earlier, and now that i have had my chocolate lab over 3 motnhs, my other dog is jealous, starts growling and anxiety then sits in. I can feel her heart beating super fast. I have owned dogs all my life and never had problems before. I thought she would welcome having someone to play with. Regardless of how much affection i give she freaks. I am being told its a dominance type thing. Any suggestions.
