There’s a place in my heart
Nowhere else can be
A place just for you
In my dreams
Cheviots to the sea
Yeavering Bell to the old Tyne River
Forever home for me
In Bernaccia.

Grass not so green
Streets not paved with gold
The sun doesn’t shine
In the summertime
I’ve seen good and I’ve seen bad
I’ve been to heaven and I’ve been sad
I’ve got wisdom I never had
Or imagined.

Dark nights and rainy days
I just can’t stay away
The time has now come
To find my memories.
Din Guyardi you will be
To Yeavering Bell and the old Tyne River
Its back home for me
To Bernaccia.

There’s a place in my heart
Nowhere else can be
A place just for you
In my dreams
Cheviots to the sea
Yeavering Bell to the old Tyne River
Forever home for me
Bernaccia.

RE: What Motivates A Women To Date

From this webpage I already met women in real life.
My experience.
She goes on a date, to have a reason to leave her comfort zone and make a new experience.
In one case she traveled almost 100 miles for some coffee, cold drinks and light dinner.
Often you see each other a few times until the relationship comes to a mutual end.
Women don't like going out alone.
If you mark an interest in her, she may go with you to zoo, cinema, theater, galleries, musicals, weekend travel.
Sure, she could do that with a female friend. But meeting a new guy, creates a distraction from the life before she met you.
Often there is no queue of guys approaching her. It's the fakes and scammers who knock on her profile.
So she is happy if she can meet a real person.
That is what the women are telling me.

RE: What defines GOOD to you ?

You listed some of the attributes I would expect from a Good Woman.
There are few more.
In case she has hobbies like collecting Shoes, Handbags, Scarfs, Jewellery - I would expect her to have a source of income for that. Like her parents, employer, business, brothers and sisters.

Not everyone is a Chef and Queen of the Household.
Despite two left hands, she could practice becoming more proficient in it - quarter by quarter.

Some self-assurance would not cause any harm when being a Good Woman.

A drivers license for a Yacht or Boat or the ability to ride a horse is a nice to have extra and not expected from a Good Woman.

Any other comments / views are welcome.

RE: Online dating is very challenging mmmmh

In my humble opinion online dating did not change between 2019 and 2020/2021.

Does Anyone Want to Learn More About the Doric?

Hello Kothay,

Thank you for your comment. As I mentioned, the Doric is more a dialect than a language per se.

What would you like to learn?

Where is home?

I am interested in any and all information about Satchells, as in Walter Scott of Satchells. There is a bit of confusing information about Walter Scott and I am not too sure which Walter became a Bucckeuch? Currently there is a family of Satchell in and around Melrose, I have contacted them but no reply. From what I can gather from my family history is that James Satchell settled in America after WW1, he would be my Great Grandfather. So, how far back does the family go and is it a physical place as well? Looking forward to hearing, well, anything. Thanks.

It's a date..

I've got my first date this summer to get out riding in the forest tomorrow, i'm looking forward to it so much and i hope we get some rain tomorrow..
I'll be riding with a couple of my cousins and we will be riding on our family farm, it's a good size farm of about 3000 hectares with a couple of other big forestry blocks we can ride as well..
So it's pay backs for all the money and hours put into getting my bikes ready for the summer, bring it on..

An Ode to Collecting the Singles

As we mingle,
Jaws jingle,jangle
Stories minds and hearts tangle
What's your Angle?
I hope in ends in a Bangle

So of us will pontificate
While others seek to dessecrate
Instead if try to communicate
Too late my patience will not abate
A deceptive photo or lack of
Has me in a state
As we look for fame
For the rules of the game we play
And yet we stay
Until we mingle

We are STILL Single

Does Anyone Want to Learn More About the Doric?

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that in 2018 the Doric was officially recognised as a Scottish language in its own right. When I returned to Scotland at the end of 2012, after being away for many years, I was somewhat taken aback with regard to how much has changed in the last few decades. Now, road signs and names at railway stations are in Gaelic as well as English. Here in the Highlands, Gaelic is taught in some schools and is still spoken by some on the west coast and the Hebrides.

But, what about the Doric, the language of my childhood, which is really more a dialect than a language per se? The Doric is predominantly spoken by people in North East Scotland and it takes a bit of practice to get the hang of it. I recall about 30 years ago a Polish friend and her boyfriend had come to stay with me for a short break and had gone to the village pub one evening. When they returned, the comment my friend made was that they couldn’t understand a word the people were saying. That’s the Doric for you.

For anyone who is interested, I’m going to introduce you to some very basic words and phrases in the Doric.

nae - no/not
aye - yes
canna - can’t
dinna - don’t
fit - how
fas - who
far - where

Fit like the noo? How are you?
I dinna ken. I don’t know.
Far ye gaen/guan? Where are you going?
Ben the hoose - to another room
Far div ye bide? Where do you live?

lassies or quines - girls
lads, loons or loonies - boys
wifies - women

bonnie - lovely
dreich - miserable
scunnered - fed up
nae weel - ill

semmit - vest
sark- shirt
gutty pergees - gym shoes
doddies - mittens
marless- gloves or shoes that don’t match

If there are any speakers of the Doric here, it would be great if you could share some more words and phrases. For those who want to take it further, you can go to - reference.yourdictionary.com and put in the search bar - ‘Doric Language and English Translation’. Another site, which gives some information about the Doric, as well as books you can buy, is doricphrases.com

Those who are even more ambitious might want to read Lewis Grassic Gibbon’s classic trilogy ‘A Scots Quair’ which has been televised several times in the UK. Sunset Song, the first book in the trilogy gives a very moving account of the life of Chris Guthrie in the early years of the last century up until the First World War and is set in an area close to my childhood home. This will test your understanding of the Doric!

Man seeking woman

Hi I'm new here looking for adventures single woman
William_Cali

Introducing Myself.

Just an initial post to a group I just joined. As many males are, I am a real person who is actually single and has not had any children. I do have quite a few nieces and nephews and am by far mostly a homebody and homemaker.
Also my mother is now a great- grandmother.

I would sure like to be in love and feel that good but I am in a hopeless situation. Luckily at my job I am making pretty decent money and my stock holdings are looking good at well over 20000 dollars -- most of it is now AFCG

Hello group, I'm the newbie on the block

Just wanted to share an old dream I had back in 2004. I know it's an oldie, but considering the most recent post made in this group was in 2015 - eh, I'd say sharing an oldie but goodies is good. Especially if anyone can provide any insight.

Without further ado, here's the dream:

There was a warrior who died in battle, but didn't go to heaven. I'm not sure exactly if he was in hell, I didn't get the feeling he was though. It seemed more like a purgatory type place.

Anyway, he felt he was wronged by his not being accepted into heaven. He possessed a little girl, expecting that she would be exorcised. Well, my impression was that, this warrior believed he would gain entry into heaven, through this girls exorcism.

What sucks is, the dream never really finished. So I really don't know if his plan worked or not.

My thoughts

I have been a vegetarian for over 3 years now and plan on being a vegetarian until I die, I have gotten so many benefits from being a vegetarian that I feel amazing every single day I wake up.
I personally find people who say they love animals and then eat meat to be gross, As it goes to show that you really don't care or have a heart for that matter.
mackenzie95

India I love you

I had no idea about that about India, that is so wonderful and interesting, I should be required to study India's
history for the rest of my life lol
On my knees bowing down to India
Bless India forever kiss
And Thanks.heart beating
