a modern version of the arranged marriage. in 7 years, 13 seasons have aired. popularity of the show has increased every season and led to franchises in the UK and australia plus a spinoff series, couples cam. there's talk of another spinoff series in the works. i think 70000 (!!) women and men applied to be a part of the social experiment. aside from the 8 week portion of the show, there are preseason and postseason episodes so, every season has about 10-12 episodes.
pick which couples you think will stay together at the end and watch the drama unfold. the show has gotten better at vetting candidates but, some unworthy ones manage to con his/her way onto the show. each married couple start out with so much hope at the altar and then life together begins..... often, it's like watching a train wreck in slo-mo. thoroughly entertaining! can't wait for the next episode. can't wait for the next season....far more real, and therefore, superior to the bachelor/bachelorette or real housewives shows (yuck). current season has ended. results: 2 couples decided to stay married, 1 couple agreed to divorce, and one spouse of the other two marriages wanted a divorce (split decisions means divorce). two more episodes cover a 3 month post decision day update/reunion.****UPDATE****one of the couples that chose to stay married at decision day didn't survive the 3 months until the reunion day. they were the model couple. the husband, a renaissance or man's man, was so upset, he left partway through the reunion episode in tears. quite shocking and sad! all the other participants and experts felt the same way. so, only one couple made it to the reunion episode but, i think it's only a matter of time b/4 they call it quits, too. seems like season 13 was an unlucky season. NEW UPDATE (de14th)... the 5th and last married couple has filed for divorce. i'm surprised their marriage lasted as long as it did****END OF UPDATE**** new season starts in january 2022 from boston. can't wait!!!
