i'm referring to the actual musical currently on tour in the US. the apple+ video is a recording of a live performance that was made in response to covid-19 shutting down theatres. a true story of how a small community in newfoundland, canada cared for 7000 stranded passengers from all over the world following the terrorist attacks on 9/11 for five days. the outpouring of compassion from the community is incredibly touching and still brings tears to my eyes. lifelong friendships have formed. many passengers through the years have given back to the community in gratitude. reunions, most recently for the 20th anniversary, are held to commemorate the sacrifices of first responders in the US and those 5 days in gander and the surrounding community. a truly wonderful and uplifting musical to honour all who were affected by the events of that day. a must see! i want to be an islander!!
