Biographical story of the rise from nowhere of early rock and roll singer Ritchie Valens who died at age 17 in a plane crash with Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper.

Fantastic storyline...Fantastic soundtrack provided by Los Lobos, and some original artists thrown in. This movie faithfully captures the essence and spirit of the 50's America.
I hated this movie then. I wonder if I watched it agaiin now, twenty years later, if I could actually tolerate it.
