RE: LEGION

had high hopes for this film, sadly it falls short of being decent watch. there are to many plot holes and inconsistancies for it to be truely taken seriously and it is sad to see quaid and bettany put there names to such a poor movie.

RE: Twilight

Great movie also for the reasons others will give, but I add that you can learn valuable lessons to apply to your life and you really need to read between the lines to understand what I'm saying here;)... and if you are reading this, you have the superpower to figure things out and see what most will miss.
Among other reasons to see Twilight, it depicts superpower concepts which though extraordinary, the understanding, that,{naturally or as a gift of our Creator, people have their own individual set of talents and abilities of which they have a greater natural proficiency than most others,}can be applied to your life and, once recognized and with understanding that they can be developed further, they can be an enhancement to what you can accomplish.
Vampires make really great baseball players!
We are all different. What are your superpowers? See Twilight for many reasons, but, while you enjoy it, also notice the different abilities of each character and relate it to your life and learn what you can enhance in yourself and others. I try to gain something valuable from movies. Sure, the movie is fiction, but that doesn't mean that there aren't real life meanings to gain from the movie. The concept of superpowers is a valuable self improvement and self worth concept.
What are your superpowers? I will tell you mine.
We all have them. Perhaps it takes another to recognize them. Perhaps they aren't recognized and hence not developed to their potential. Perhaps I will be the one to recognize your superpowers.

RE: Man on Fire

I look for value and meaning in movies to apply to life and communicate concepts in a burst of understanding with the shared movie experience with the magnified effectiveness of a picture worth a thousand words and a motion picture being 30 frames per second for about two hours being a lot of easily referenced or comparative content with just the mention of a movie title and noting a scene and applying it to a related concept, so, with that preface, if you want to know what will result from "Property Forfeiture" laws in Utah that makes law enforcement no longer dependent on the budget decided by an elected legislature and governor and can instead self-fund as the corruption in Mexico that is best understood by seeing this movie where exceptional skill, ability, resolve and dedication couldn't change a thing except the rescue of one victim, then see this movie and think about it with that in mind. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Now we have added this enticement to the criminal element to find it's way into our law enforcement community and displace the fine people that we typically have there now. Perhaps not right away, but the seed for it is planted and things take time to change, so how long will it take for Utah to become as depicted in this movie? I tried to stop the Property Forfeiture laws. Oh, did I mention that I'm politically active and trying to save the world? This movie has high value to understand what can go wrong and what must be avoided in our United States of America. Ask me more. Ronald H Levine :)

One of the best movies I have ever watched. 10/10 is not a merited rating. It deserves much more. It's so deep. Didn't really like Russel Crowe before this movie, he managed to convince me! grin

RE: AVATAR 3D

This movie was really good, the video was a bit ropy in spots, and it did have a very distinctive "aliens" feel to it but as purdy good all things considered... id watch it again

RE: AVATAR 3D

great breakthru visuals! the script was weak tho at places, w/o the visuals the plot wouldn't be able stand alone like compared to a good lyric which can stand w/o the music, plus it had an "old school pure walt disney morality feel to it" that kids(of all ages)can enjoy, which is fine but don't say b*tch in the dialog...be like snow white calling sleepy a b*tch or something, im not sure im communicating this clearly but for me it stuck out like a chunk of coal in the snow and my last bad experience i got was after the tribe felt mercilessly betrayed by the movies hero they too easily forgave him. i wanted more resistance from the tribe letting the misunderstood benedict arnold back in their graces. it was like u just killed thousands of our people and blew up our homes but thats ok we forgive u as long as u ride the big dragon(weak script). even tho i wanted to like it i found these items distracting....for a very profound forgiveness scene check out the movie the mission w/ de nero.

RE: AVATAR 3D

Fabulous special effects on 3D and worthy of praise for that alone. If you're an amateur naturalist like myself, the wildlife, plants and landscape are also wonderfully realised. Not quite so keen on the plot and consider if humans did come across such a beautiful planet in the future, they would be extremely unlikely to trash it. Perhaps I have more faith in humanity than most. The somewhat hippy, native culture thing going-on with the Navi was a bit corny for British-taste I'd say. Overall, a good movie though.

RE: Sherlock Holmes

laugh I put this one on my favourite movies a few weeks ago! thumbs up

Definitely a fantastic movie I thought! If you are an ardent traditionalist when it comes to Holmes (as I thought I was!)...just go in with an open mind, and be pleasantly suprised and entertained!
