Mel Carter began his career with Sam Cooke's SAR record label in the early 1960s. Carter has established himself as a modern day renaissance man who has proven that real and genuine talent will always find an audience, regardless of the current trends, radio formats or fashions.
Carter appears on the PBS special "Doo Wop 51" recorded in 2001 performing his 1965 million-selling recording, "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me". Even to this day, Mel's version of that song has lost only 2% of its playing ability since its release 53 years ago and you can still hear this timeless classic played on the radio at least once a day somewhere around the world.
