HILL CLIMBER

I LIE AWAKE, I CANNOT SLEEP,
LIKE A TIRED SOLDIER GUARDING, THE CASTLE KEEP,
IMPATIENTLY WAITING FOR DAWN'S GREY STREAK,
TODAY, I WILL CLIMB TO THE HIGHEST PEAK.

WITH LUSH PURPLE HEATHER BENEATH MY FEET,
AND THE WIND'S GENTLE KISS UPON MY CHEEK,
THE MORNING MIST LIFTS FROM THE LAKES BENEATH,
THE VALLEYS TRUE SPLENDOR LIES AT MY FEET.

IN THE DISTANCE, A HAWK, HUNTS GLEN AND HILL,
THIS AWESOME BEAUTY, YOUR SOUL WOULD TRILL,
AS THE WHISPERING WIND, SINGS A POEM TO ME,
OF THIS GHOSTLY GREEN VALLEY, AT THE DAWN OF THE DAY.

About this poem:
CAMPED OUT IN THE BEAUTIFUL VERDANT, NIRE VALLEY, IN COUNTY WATERFORD, NEAR DAWN, IM ALWAYS RESTLESS BEFORE A CLIMB, ONLY A HILL CLIMBER, CAN FEEL THE BUZZ, BEFORE AN ASSENT, IT PUTS BARBED WIRE IN YOUR EYES, AND FIRE IN YOUR BLOOD.
