The truth is all that matters. It's not owned by you or me. Our opinions do not phase it. From our bias, it is free.
Some people try to hide the truth While others just deny it. Some seek to corrupt the truth While others just decry it.
But the truth can never be destroyed. We're better off to face it; Letting truth be our life's guide. When you find the truth, embrace it.
You never know if your beliefs Are true unless you try To launch them to opposing winds And let them sink or fly.
Unchallenged, you can never know What's truly wrong or right, Opposing winds bring down a lie But launch a truth in flight.
Though surely sometimes we'll be wrong The truth will set us free. And the sooner we concede when wrong The fewer times we will be.

About this poem:
Debate is the greatest tool for testing truth; very effective as long as what's right is more important than who's right and as such both protagonist and antagonist benefit.
aye...i mean, i, concur. debate the situation, not the person, ever. uuuhhh, GH, can you go recite this on Capitol Hill? in truth, a wise write...you rock!

Thankyou Gardenhackle....I liked this one, though sadly it is also true that while lies fly, the truth walks, so we need a little patience sometimes my friend.........Andrew.
Thanks, guys. Navigating toward the truth is pretty easy, Andrew. As soon as a fact is proven to be false, dump it like a bin of smelly rubbish and you're one step closer to the truth. :) Might never get there, but it's a sure way to head the right direction.
there is great value from the truth - while 'untruth' is as worthless as it is meaningless. in the last 14 years or so of my life i have come to value the truth enormously - thanks for this lovely poem Robert.

As you said, debate is valuable if the truth is sought and not a contest of egos. Kudos!
