The Dress

It's that time of year again.
The time that takes me back to childhood.
Surrounded by friends and family.
And memories that are good.
Putting on an outfit just to be worn for that one night.
Making sure it fit just right.
Little did I know back then.
That nights where the outfit seemed to be worn only once.
Would be the ones etched into my memories.
My Halloweens were full of fun.
But soon I was grown and they were done.
Then came prom I looked so grown.
In my gown of light blue.
Worn only the once too.
Now I wait for the day.
The dress I will only wear once.
I have seen it in my mind a hundred times.
But yet has it come to be.
The wedding dress for me.

About this poem:
Funny how no matter how old I get I still will think about the wedding gown as if I were still a girl.
