Hope

If there is a hope, then it comes with your words,
Simple kind letters, concerned with my lot.
My soul may aspire for no reason at all,
I seem to be floating though standing on floor.
The power of hope - a miraculous force,
It drives me through times of boredom and toil.
I seem to take notice of nothing at all,
For joy that hope brings me I am grateful to all.

I must have missed this one dear and it's so nice to see your poem
off the shelf after these several years. I like your description of
hope as a sort of nameless something that inspires the heart to
press forward. It would be nice if you wrote more of your own poems
because this little gem is beauty and simplicty.

Let me thank all of you, my dears, for your nice words. In this chilly, lonely, uneventful life hope makes it much easier to carry on. Wish, dear Cafe, I could write my own poems, but I seem to be empty, other more fortunate poets whom I read and translate come to help and fill the void, for which I am thankful to them.
Kindest regards! tip hat sad flower

Author: Alexander Pushkin

I’m through with life – no sweet desires,
I’ve ceased to love my happy dreams;
All’s left to me is pain and anguish dire,
The fruits of emptiness that dwells in me.

In storms and tempests of this cruel fate
Alas, my blooming crown has faded thus,
And living now alone, disconsolate I am,
And wait: when end to suffering will come.

Thus hit with cold so slow to come,
In piercing squeal of wintry storm,
Clinging alone to bare branch
A quivering leaf will soon be gone!
