There's day besides night, There's joy besides the ecstasy of sorrow, And a white rose has a black shade ... And love is hollow, didn't you know?
Stars too become extinct at times, The sun - it dies but only once. Suspense of happiness is boundless, my friend, What matters is the Path - though few can comprehend the end.
... A clever man attempts to gain much knowledge, Wise man is bold enough to get to know himself. The loving ones are those who do believe in wonders, For once upon a time they tend to realize.

About this poem:
This is a translation from Russian of Dina Babij's poem (the series "Tbilisi Russian Lyre").
Hi marikia...wow us again....when I did an early paper on Myth Legends and Folktales, we did rather alot from Russia, and I have to admit, although some transend different regions, country and era, they usually gave words of wisdom, directed at children and the young, though the eyes of maturity...this is true wisdom...wonderful...thanks for allowing us to read by translation...Niah
I agree with Niah: much wisdom is contained in this little gem. Be the way, love may be hollow, but it does give this world that special flavor, and there's hope that at least once, but for sure, in a lifetime a wonder is stored for each and one of us! Thank you, Cafe, sincerely I did enjoy this long forgotten one, especially Niah's comment!
