A part of me is always a part of you But I have no ability to begin anew I have bled my heart beyond repair We have taken your body and left despair
The rolling thunder plagues my soul Is it mad desire to bequeath a dust bowl? I breathe within you and see with knowing eyes What we have taken comes in false disguise
For we would breathe as seeming one Forever taking, you would strive to render undone I would gather your richness within my hand That slipped through fingers as grains of sand
Your winds of defiance to us tried to speak We took your beauty and made it ever bleak As oceans stagnate and green forests fall It is no passing phase as a nighttimes squall
The arctic winds no longer breathe an icy chill Mankind will eventually swallow a bitter pill Within our nature to do too little to late We tear out your heart and serve it on our plate
You give us life; we bring you your death Let us both enjoy our last single breath Like I, a heart laid open emotionally bare The world had bled, with thoughtless care
Yes trurorob....we are all to blame for the destruction of beauty...powerful spiritual write...glad you are back...you was missed...Niah

fantastic write as always sir rob,,very nice too, thanks for sharing
Hi, trurorob, I breathe within you and see with knowing eyes What we have taken comes in false disguise... Although the beauty of the earth is finite, coming to an end with the death of the sun, with our insatiable appetites to consume, we hasten our own, if not its, end. Nicely penned.

Thought you were talking about some female for a mo, Rob. We have made a pigs ear of her, that is for sure. Thoughtful, well rhymed piece. Nice to hear your words again, cj
Sounds in harmony with Mike's "My Own Little World" with the same deep concern and sympathy for the Earth and its fate. The very first line of the poem: "A part of me is always a part of you" suggests that we should all think of our planet as a miraculous gift bestowed upon us, for us to appreciate and take care of. Thanks, Trurorob, for raising this painful issue.

This is really good............ The following line really grabbed my attention - "We have taken your body and left despair"
I rather think that most poetic people really care about the environment, which is no great surprise as I suspect nature is a fount of inspiration for nearly everybody who writes poetry.
Great poem. Great write as always Rob. I admire your concern and anguish with what we are doing to this planet. It seems our politicians are short sighted and unconcerned...for the most part. There are those that strive for the ecology and I applaud them.
