Lies

I'm not the one, I'm not the only,
Who's been so fooled, was treated thus.
I'm not the one, I'm not the only,
Who's made myself a laughing stock.
I'm not the one, I'm not the only,
Who's been let down - an easy prey to lies.
I'm not the one, I'm not the only
Who's now in trouble - that serves me right.
"Syrup and soothing dope, sure, they can live on hope",
says Ezra Pound, meaning me and many other guys.

About this poem:
It's just the way people usually succumb to lies, knowing they are lies, but nevertheless believing in self-deception.

Hi, marikia,
With experience as our guide, trust is what allows us to connect one with another. The person who preys on that is the fool.

wine marikia, I would say people should always trust their feelings. We always feel we are being told a lie.

I have to agree with gnj4u...Marikia...we learn how to deal with them with experience....you can fool some of the poeple some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time...liars soon show their true colours....but sometimes it takes a while, and innocence get hurt in the process. Thank you all, my dears, for very kind responses, in which there are some very good points advisable to follow.
