Across the Miles

A Christmas spent so far apart,
Can still be touching heart to heart.
Though distance great seems misery,
Soft words of comfort hearten me.

Just knowing that there is that one,
Who truly cares, all said and done,
Enough to ring the telephone,
That let's me know I'm not alone.

With friends and family far away,
I'll not be lonely Christmas Day,
For I will know that love has found,
The way to reach the world around.

All precious gifts aren't tied with bows,
The best ones are where true love shows.

I agree that the most precious gift is love.
And I agree that the happiest ones are those who have found love. And as the poet says:
"I wake and find myself in love:
And this one time I do not doubt".

Chris, what a moving, tender and humble poem. I loved it but wish I could be as accepting and philosophical about being apart. I only hope your patience will be rewarded,
take care,
