I glimpsed inside the casket of black What took me there then took me back To times not lost, merely hidden in sorrow My plea for life to once more steal or borrow
To turn back time and halt the clock To rid the reaper of that foul gloating mock In my despair I begged you to arise awake Searching for movement not mine to take
With feet as lead that now lined your tomb Once more I pleaded for the sanctuary of your womb Those gentle hands that had caressed my face Lay cold and motionless under white lace
I see no chariots on that darkened path Only my black anger covered with misted wrath Through tears that tasted so acrid and bitter All was gone scattered like wasted litter
For where you go it is not my time to tread You wait for me as I no longer hold dread But as an empty shell I now have to walk alone As a broken King who has lost he’s throne
I closed my ears to the toll of the final bell I wish to ride with you again on the carousel For in my desolation there will be no other Take me back and with you my loving mother
Life and death.. happens indeed. I felt the same way when my grandmother died. Trying to will her to live once more. I was like a zombie for a year then life just kicked back into gear. My deepest condolences on your loss.
Great write!

Rob, you're a brilliant poet, really, you're one of a kind, friend, thanks for sharing your talent with us, I loved the rugged language used to describe an incredible loss, without measure...

Perfect! I wanted to write just Perfect but ...not enough characters! lol You are a wonderful poet!
Hi, trurorob, A mother can only hope that her child holds her in high and loving regard. Such a moving tribute, your poem does her life and love a great honor. times not lost, merely hidden in sorrow will endure to bring comfort in the midst of loss now so acrid and bitter. In deepest sympathy.

you certainly know how to write a great poem. although sad, it's a brilliant tribute.
Great tribute Rob. Obviously a wonderful mother.I felt much the same when my mom passed away...just can't be...but nothing you can do but remember her well...and that is very apparent. Sorry for your loss Rob.
