Credo
There are things I can do, and things I can't.
I can ask for a drive, but I can never ask for money.
I can ask for help, but I can never ask for mercy.
I can ask to lower the volume of voice,
But I can never ask an honest man to shut up
Because he is telling the truth!
There are things I can accept, and things I can never do.
I can accept an excuse when being abused.
I can accept a right word at a right time, at a right place,
But I can never accept a grown up man, telling lies in my face.
There are things I can endure, and things I can never do.
I can endure pain, humanly possible to bear,
But I can never endure the strain of deserted love,
Leaving painful marks on my face.
I can endure endless waiting in queues in stations and shops,
But I can never endure waiting for the return of days,
lost for ever, without solace in their wake.
There are things I can understand, and things I can never do in full.
I can understand when love is gone and is nowhere to be found,
But I can never comprehend people's efforts at justification of infidelity and a blank space in its place.
I can undertsand a behavior on impulse, causing damage and hurt,
But I can not comprehend how virtues can be substituted
by evil deeds, causing pain to soul.
I can think of many ways of finding companionship, but I can't think of parting with love, leaving nothing in its stead,
ruining life, causing a major damage and pain.
I can think of remembering and cherishing past, but I can't think of forgetting past altogether,
though it may be the only possible solution in a sense.
I can welcome being overjoyed when meeting with old love,
But I can't welcome bearing grudge against it,
sweet memories being the only comfort in the end.
This is my credo, this is in what I believe, this is my faith,
Experience taught me to abide by the rules of heart not pain.

Oh, how we all look at life through different prisms to see our credos that help us to define who we are. The poet's Credo is painted with such depth and emotion. Thank you for sharing.
An excellent write......
