Little snowdrops hiding where you are, Straighten your stalks and open up. Spring is coming fast, hear the creeks? Winter vainly tries to check its speed.
Winter's slack and aging very quick, Look at pretty blossoms, bright and brisk. Sky's in fluffy clouds, gray and white, It is still so early, listen, crack of ice.
Spring, hold on, it is not your time, Wait till winter turns over and dies.

Despite 35+ temperatures here for a week, I can imagine this. That cold is so inviting but your Spring is coming. We still have plenty of summer left here.
I'm glad you liked it. It's a promise, of course, not actually spring. It's still cold, but there is something in the air, you can't help feeling its advance.

I have been reading some of your wonderful poetry, and as I like the spring at the moment had to pick this delightful one. Thankyou for sharing

Dear Marikia, I love your prophetic view here. I was so benumbed by the winter's cold when you posted this beautifully wise romantic poem that I couldn't rise and comment it. I love your sense of justice and the way you wisely ask the spring to stand aside, like you yourself who impatiently wait for the spring's turn to come, and wait till the winter's run is over. A lovely and praiseworthy blend of classic and romantic ways!
Thanks Redex for reading my poetry with appreciation it hardly deserves. I am pretty sure anyone with a heart big enough to embrace the world can do it.
Tithonus, thanks for making this little one seem so important. Yes, you guessed right: I was sitting and dreaming about spring when it was still so far away, when winter was on its way to Georgia loaded with snow and cold, as it is raging now. And I felt an urge to put my longing on paper and in ten minutes this little one was ready.
This poem just popped up and is a little late for my part of the world where spring is in full bloom, but in some other parts winter is still reluctant to go, but sooner or later it will call it quits!
I'm in one of those places - FIRST DAY OF SPRING CALENDAR WISE IS TOMORROW!! WHOOP!! WHOOP!! Robins are here and I hear the red winged blackbirds are hear and the Canadian geese are flying north. There is hope on the horizon. The snow is melted right now and everything is brown. Thanks for sharing Marikia!

Hi marikia Enjoyed reading this poem very much thanks. I adore Spring and Summer but have to admit your poem got me feeling sorry for Winter...who am I to rush it ahead of time lol
Many, many thanks to all who commented on this little one! Wish spring were coming faster than usual in your part, with no hurt and complications whatever to the environment, - just a little bit faster cause we would like more warmth in the air translated into our hearts. Spring is notorious for bringing hopes, whether well grounded or not, - enough to go out and look around and feel the rebirth of life and that special freshness in the air. No other month can compare. With kindest regards and best wishes for all CS poets doing a great job here!
