Spring Love

"In Spring a young man's fancy turns
To thoughts of love", they say;
But I'm different,
Because my mind doesn't work that way.

In Spring I think of newborn lambs
And foals on wobbly legs;
And sitting hens all ruffled up,
When someone takes their eggs.

In Spring I think of fresh green grass
A' growing in the sun;
And melting snow chunks tumbling down,
Across the old mill run.

In Spring I think of budding flowers
And fawns tucked in the shade;
I think of rich, clean smelling earth,
Just turned up by a spade.

I think of brand new things on earth
And sparkling skies above...
I guess the saying's right at that,
For all these things are love!

Next to Christmas, I enjoy the delights of Spring. New foals and calves being welcomed into the world, the peep of fluffy chicks following the hens in search of worms. Hope does always Spring eternal. :) I'm so glad you liked this work. :) wine
