There was a blonde woman from Crewe, who thought she had quite the great clue. She said, "Yes, I'm quite smart" I got a great head start Changed my clock yesterday at 2!"

About this poem:
"...yesterday at 2!"(a.m.that is) Thinking how it's said the "official" time change occurs at 2 a.m., and jokes about getting up at 2 a.m. just to change the clocks(as opposed to changing them at an "unofficial" hour, such as before going to bed, or after waking up in the morning....)
..(maybe I should've called it "the blonde's totally clueless time idea" lol)

Thank you for that great comment, kickit! (I actually know someone who sets all the clocks in the house EXACTLY on "atomic" time? I think it's called - whatever it is the world clocks are set on - drives the family crazy at times - and drives the person crazy when setting the clocks - gets so close, but still ONE second off - I don't know if the person gets up at the "official" time to do all that meticulous clock setting)

I was so out-of-tune with the world when I moved...I left two clocks on the wall of the old house...the rest were packed, and I really didn't know whether the computer or cell phone was right, both were an hour different.....Amazes me how we rely on TV, computers, gadgits with clocks etc.....so I drifted for a few days.....This is true....and my watch had dropped down between the seats in the car.....better buy some more wall clocks...Niah
Hi, SCatlyn, Cute limerick! I love daylight savings time that provides an extra hour of sunlight in the evening so I'm all for the head start - as long as it is not me who is getting up to do it!

SCatlyn Very funny!!
SCatlynOPBrecon, South Glamorgan, Wales UKMar 27, 2011
That is soo funny, Niah! Oh, dear... and then your watch falling between the seats - you don't know how much I can identify!! (between my SCatterbrain & those narrow spaces being as bad as washers in eating socks- I could lose my mind!)
Thanks for the comment! - gave me a great laugh (and showed me I'm not alone in such things )
Good luck for the next 12 months in finishing your move & finding all sorts of temporarily lost items!
P.S.My new cellphone seems to be accurate with my pc(both auto-update at 2 a.m. on the time-change date - 2 wks. ago for us - though my old cellphone was a couple of mins. off??) And you're so right about dependence on them. I recently traveled to the U.K., & knew I couldn't use my cellphone to communicate, but had planned to use the time & alarm-clock feature(didn't wear a watch on the plane b/c I was afraid I'd damage it). Imagine my surprise upon discovering my phone was completely useless for anything, as it couldn't find a signal, therefore wouldn't show anything in the display(screen). Arrgh....

Hi gnj4u, Thank you so much! I just love daylight-savings time, too. The extra hour of sunlight is great to have - I wish they would keep it permanently. While it's nice to "fall back" in the fall & get the extra hr., it's not worth having to adjust back & forth(& it gets dark so early on "standard" time - the combination of that & cold weather- blah!! )
If anyone wants to start a petition to keep DST permanently.... I'm ready to sign
P.S.Gnj4u, if somebody you know insists your clocks be changed exactly at 2 a.m., be sure & tell them they're welcome to it!

Thank you pilgrimageoflove! (I'm not a poet, as I don't have much imagination for writing poems... but the odd 'time' when an idea does pop into my head, it sure is fun!) Glad you enjoyed it!

Hi again, kickit! Hahaaha! Yes, that's prob. true - and I know a guy who's a truckdriver. He's very laidback - prob. how he manages to stay that way! It would prob. be helpful if we adopted the custom of the daily tea time - I know I sure enjoyed it!

Hi Redex, Oh, that is my dream... to not live by the clock! I have a wall clock that says "Who Cares!!!" w/numbers all piled at the bottom - like they've fallen off- I've had it quite a few yrs. & it's nice to look at & imagine someday........ One thing though, it runs by battery & the battery has gone out - so the hour hand is at 3(it has dots where the numbers would usually be) and minute hand is stuck down in the pile of numbers!! Actually, it fits my feelings w/o the battery - "Who cares what time it is?"
(Well, actually, I do... b/c I have to for now-lol) Thanks so much for your comment, & glad you enjoyed the limerick!!

Hi Fellsman,
Thank you for the comment & glad you enjoyed it!
I didn't know much about Crewe before , b/c I picked it to rhyme with blue(was going to be a blonde w/eyes of sparkling blue... but too many lines- not needed - got lucky there, though, as it rhymed with 2)
So basically, never heard of a smart blonde in Crewe(well, the one in the poem sure wasn't! )
SCatlynOPBrecon, South Glamorgan, Wales UKMar 28, 2011
Wow, thank you so much, christian! Methinks a very generous comment... and I appreciate it very much!
(If it's a talent, it must be one of those 'come and go' kind But I do love humor/humour - so if an idea arrives at my brain again, I'll see about a new one. New limerick, that is!) Thanks again!!
(P.S.Thank you for the name to rhyme with blue - as you can see, my poem ended up without 'blue'... but the name Crewe was perfect!)

Hi Shadow! Wow - thanks so much for bringing this one out - my 2nd ever poem - it's been awhile-lol! At the time I wrote it(living in the U.S.), I didn't realize the time changes occurred at different times- 2 to 3 weeks apart - between U.S. and UK.
We get to 'fall back'(get that extra hour of sleep, though I'd prefer it to be left on Daylight Savings Time & do away w/setting the clocks back & forth), at 2a. on Sun. 26 Oct here in the UK, as you prob. know - so great timing!!
Thanks again for the great comment!!

You, my dear Cafe, a lover of blondes... well!!! I'm so shocked
(And it appears from comments, if you travel to Crewe, England... you may well find a dumb blonde or 3....)
Thank you so much for bringing this poem back in such a timely manner(actually it was Shadow... but with the U.S. time changing arriving this Sun. Nov. 2, it has worked out well- Shadow from the UK for our time change that just occurred... and you for the U.S.)
Cat
(btw, CafeJim- In the midst of about those blondes... don't forget to set your clock back - at 2a.m. if you're with one of those blondes... or anytime Sat.nite or Sun.morn. if not)
