In Honor Of A Fallen Fellow Officer

Our heroes in a brown shirt
They wear a star upon their chest;
A heart as good as gold,
Beneath a kevlar vest.

They work long, hard hours
For very little pay;
And each night that they leave,
We hit our knees and pray.

Lord look after them
Our deputies of the night;
Give them strength and courage,
To put up a good fight.

Help them catch a running suspect
Put a child abuser behind bars;
Keep a drinking daddy,
From getting in his car.

Give them strength to face the things
That most people never see;
The horrible side of mankind,
That results in such atrocities.

Bring them home to us Lord
Help them shed the burden they bear;
Memories and faces of victims,
That become a living nightmare.

If one night you call them home
Make sure they understand;
They'll always be with us,
Walking hand in hand.
