An early spring rain glisten green grass Dropping from a sky the color of clay Running down cliffs of wet granite pass Flowing along the soaked highway Dripping off towering pines that mass On the hill above the weathered quay Dropping onto the ashen water amass Falling raindrops splatter in the bay Causing crowns of spray to splash A mottled blur of green and gray

About this poem:
Glimpses of the wet New England World....It's amazing how these two colors blend on a rainy day.
The first time I saw the Badlands in South Dakota, it had rained, and boy did it make them look great, the second time there was no rain, so the colors didn't pop out at you nearly as much.
Very similar to the beginning of spring....nothing really has taken up the water too much.....no shiny colours unless it rains.....after the dryness of winter makes things look chaff and dull the rejuvination of green shiny growth is most welcome.
