She whispers sweet nothings in our ear.. and we cannot hear it.. In her eyes are the whisper of true love.. Yet.. we do not see it.. With her tamberine she dances for us.. but we do not rejoice.. And with her heart does come the whisper of a thousand passions.. But, Behold! we will not receive it.. And in so doing we break the heart of a velvet night whose stars fall at the feet of she who whispers.. and they weep.. For their joy is no more..

About this poem:
About the heart that cannot receive the gift of love..
Cafetwo.... I think you've just nailed me to the post of guilt! I've had 'interest' shown to me at various times by various ladies, but it always seems that I find a reason to evade their interest or advances. Like I said about the poem of gnj4u - I'm fearful of the pain that comes from having my trust fractured by one that I loved so deeply. "How does one learn to trust again?" Now there's a concept for a poetry contest! Powerful message here my friend!!
I will continue the flow of the previous comment. Love is so powerful, Cafetwo, so demanding, it captures mind and soul. Not all of us are ready to embrace it, cause we are too scared of consequences, so it takes courage to acknowledge we are in love, hence such unwillingness to succumb to great feeling. This and many other things are to blame for failure to accept love. But is there any other option, I wonder.

swade777..Only my thoughts about trust..It's kind of a mistake to put all your trust in a human being. Human nature being what it is we can all falter at any given time. No one person can take care of all our needs and when we think that way we make a God of them. Some people when they say I'm giving my partner All my trust they really mean All. So if we're not rooted in ourselves and that partner leaves us we are truly undone because we made the agreement with ourselves right at the start that they were Everything. They were only a helper through life..they were not life itself. I guess we have to be as ready to trust in another 'again', as we would want another to trust us 'again.' This may not quite relate to all your circumstances but I hope it was somewhat helpful.

Ty marikia.. I was more or less describing a state of affairs without giving reasons. I leave it to the reader to discover their own answers for what they might identify with in the poem. It becomes highly subjective right from the start.

A person who cannot love cannot live a life... Beautiful read!

Now I understand all what as been said, and yes, we protect ourselves, but in protection, we stop ourselves from living. I'd like to add something else, maybe later....at I'd break a confidence. Niah
thats one thing about your writting cafe another one that is not limited to one meaning. you leave it up to the reader to figure out who she really is. kickit.

Pleased this poem came back round cafetwo2010 certainly was a gifted writer with a big heart . I wish I had the pleasure of getting to know him better as many of you did and I wish his poetry was published for a wider audience to be able to appreciate and be blessed by reading it too.
And with her heart does come the whisper of a thousand passions.. But, Behold! we will not receive it.. In our increasingly technology-focused culture, we need more knights. Café had the ability to make one feel heard. His daily presence in Poet's Corner is missed.
