Not me

so young lady how do you plead
guilty or not guilty???
oh but your honour, not guilty"
NOT ME.

true" i was there on the night
but i was one in a crowd
it was others that done the kicking
as she fell to the ground..
THEM' NOT ME.

yes" they are my friends
but i am not guilty of their crime
yes" i heard her call for help
but it was to another she cried..
ANOTHER' NOT ME.

i dont know who she was
the stranger that ran to her aid
but i know who she wasnt
i lower my head in shame
ME' NOT ME.

About this poem:
just a thought here really, when we can' we should never not help anyone cause someones life may depend on it, and who knows someday you might find yourself depending on someone like you.

Dear Itchywitch, i can only quote from my first blog ever on CS :
"As I was given to experiment and learn in the end, I realized that friendship should be devoid of all selfishness, egotism and any interest in personal comfort. Mean total abandonment of self and moving towards the other, removal from the net for personal problems and bias. It's like trying to keep in some other person one piece of life, of hope, giving him courage and confidence, getting him on his feet to continue. Having consciousness thought that one day your life would depended on his life. A total interactivity. A total interaction"

Having said that...all that remain is to congratulate you for this beautiful poem-evocation !handshake bouquet

Good poem itchywitch but poses some questions?? I know when my kids were young I might have thought twice, they only had me in the world. Now they are grown I would not hesitate.teddybear

i think for most people it is situationally based on weather to help one in need or not. i guess that goes without saying to help or not to help isn't it an involountary reaction a person don't have time to think it through if the situation is dire. think lot of people are scared to take action is that why we honor and call people who help a hero. think that is the true meaning of the word not some baseball player who hits a homerun in the bottom of the ninth to win a game.

enjoyed the reading very well expressed. hug

@redex i can understand only too well where your coming from, hero's within reason handshake alot of good points you mentioned also kickit wave but as in the poem she hung her head in shame because she could of done something rather then do nothing atall, when its within our own hands and still we leave it to others, if we all thought like that what good is anybody to somebody when hero's are needed.. thank you odette and jazzy peace teddybear
