Time

It was for a moment;
A very brief moment,
That I closed my eyes;
No longer then seconds passed;
Before I allowed light to
Invade and destroy
My serenity.
Seconds, that's all it took. Seconds to know that
The eternity I hoped to spend with you,
Was as brief as the time as my
Eyes were shut.

I know my failure,
And I know my regret;
For that brief moment,
As I sought serenity,
Though only seconds passed,
In my time,
A millennium passed in yours.
A millennium to cast doubts
About my friendship.

Thank you Odetta and Andrew. Depression and writers block can do wonders for you. Or was ithe witers block that brought on the depression? Either way it feels good to be writing again!

Welcome back poet friend have not seen you in a while. And though seemingly sad I do love the soft way your words told the story in this poem.bouquet
