Hurricane in the Hills

Tapping like many hundred drums
Giant raindrops make hollow song
Pounding steady wind becomes
Footsteps hard to walk along

Banging back and forth on high
Metal roof tears loose from nails
Thwaking sounds are heard nearby
branches beat like threshing flails

Roaring heard from stream below
Fed in fury by an angry storm
Cracking banks along its flow
Know not what it will transform

Bashing tempest born of the sea
Huge clouds swarm my mountain home
Whalloping with such stormy glee
Another event in an ancient tome
