I pushed and heaved and in it went
Last of the load, the big elephant
What a job, had taken so long
Almost one hundred years had passed
Noah! the voice from heaven had called
For me thou shalt build an Ark
An Ark Lord, I cried, an Ark
What, for goodness sake, is that
On and on the Lord did go
Giving me these instructions
Three hundred cubits long by fifty wide
An reaching thirty cubits high
Now I'm not a young man anymore
I've reached a nice age of five hundred
To be asking me to do this job
Ah well, if the Lord says it, it must be done
What, that's not all, what more is there
To fill it up with animals of all types
Fill it up, two by two till all inside are
And no animals dare I miss or I'm in trouble
One hundred years to build this Ark
So much gopher wood to be collected
And even though my neighbours laugh
On we keep building for the Lord has told us so
Sky turned grey and looks like rain
But on the Lord I was waiting
Noah, came the voice, get thee and thine
And into the Ark you'll be going
In I went with my dear wife
And Shem, Ham and Japheth
In ran their wives not to be left there
And the Lord reached down and shut us in
For forty days and forty nights
On and on the rain kept coming
Higher and higher the water rose
No land there was left in sight
Lightning flashed and thunder roared
And the Ark kept on rocking
One hundred and fifty days
Even above the mountains we floated
All this time we had much work
The animals needed feeding
And even us, we felt so sad
Knowing that nothing was left living
And slowly waters did subside
On land once again we were stepping
The Lord promised never again
To drown this world with water
This world once again
I saw grow and prosper
New generations spreading out
And far across the world they travelled
Now I've reached nine hundred and fifty
These years sit heavy on me
Tis time I think, to leave this life
And go to meet my maker
