Take off your blindfold Look what's right beside Despair is such darkness Absorbing all that we hide Surrounds earthly realm In shadows of night Where fear never rests When allowed to fright Have around your head Like a mighty halo To drive away darkness Courage's light will glow
I'm a mailman and in middle winter we deliver after dark with headlamps around our heads(halos) when its like 20 below zero (F) and very icy (scary) and without the headlamp I am lost....strange metaphor i know... :)

Great poem, Yankee4U!! Very wise words there.
(And I have one of those lamps. Only way I could investigate a car accident on a Main Street, as it was too busy til after midnight. And couldn't hold a torch(flashlight), tape measure, marking pen & take measurements at the same time. A simple, great idea, those lamps. But, of course, the type in your poem is the BEST of all!)
