meeting in the bay

You stopped me in my tracks you did,
In the dark your feelings hid,
As you moved close towards my face,
I am sure I felt my heart race,
The harbour light was dim, air cool,
Standing before you a simple fool,
Not knowing quite what he should do,
Feeling awkward eyes fixed on you,
I moved in slow for our first kiss,
Clumsily alas I did miss,
Reaching out to bring you near,
Still not quite sure why I was here,
I felt your touch within my hand,
And slowly began to understand,
I was not alone in my ways,
We both had seen some better days,
Best left far and long behind,
There is no need to remind,
Moving on to pastures new,
You are like me, like me, like you!
