The Caves

Below the crust of earth that´s baked
Beneath a smouldering sun
There lies a stunning, awesome sight
Great rocks are formed not seen at night
It´s only when mankind explores
These jewels are exposed

They´re formed by rain that falls from heights
And seeps through ground below
To form such beauty only seen
When man descends through gaps so lean
And finds these caverns hidden there
So we can ponder

Ethereal, wondrous you´re made to feel
As eyes digest the shapes unreal
Insignificant, humble, put in place
As nature outshines the human race
In sculpting rocks in forms unique
Displayed for us

Long stalactites cascade from roofs
To form their wondrous art
Their beauty is beheld by us
Mere mortals in this temporal world
Agape at sights which blow our minds
And touch our hearts
