On Christmas Eve I wish you, dear friends, In joy you are so sad - in sadness merry, So far on distant continents and lands, You are so close to me - I wish I had you near.
Heart hardly can contain the love I carry, To each and every one I stretch my hand And wish God's grace upon you, wish you plenty!
Believe my words, we have no other way: This corner is a chance, there aren't so many. The one for all and all for one to burden take, You are so close to me - I wish I had you near.

Hi Marikia,
I liked your attempt at a roundel and certainly the substance and sentiment are there. It's so interesting how each of us has their own style and try to express our own personal slant on things. All I did was reintroduce a very old style which appealed to me.
Once again you have written from the heart.

Marikia, this is a touching, lovely heartfelt write for Christmas. I find the roundel form of poetry too restrictive, this is a nice attempt. But the spirit of your poem is beautiful! Happy Christmas.
I didn't see this before Christmas - but a belated Merry Christmas to you to Markia and we are so glad you are with us on here. You are one of our guiding lights.
Thank you, Kathy, in fact the pleasure is mine. This poem shows how I feel in real. Wishing you and our poets all the best in the coming New Year! Kindest regards!
Couldn't bring anything better than this oldie to wish you Merry Christmas, my friends, but hope you will not mind. Wishing you many fresh ones - fruits of your imagination and inspiration - coming to this Corner for us all to relish and enjoy. Happy New Year, dear poets!
Thank you, dear poets, for good wishes! Had a wonderful Christmas and am looking forward to better new year filled with joy - follow my example! Happy New Year!
Though not actively involved I keep visiting this corner regularly cause it is my favorite. Merry Christmas, dear poets, and Happy New Year to you! Keep writing and bringing us joy with your poetry!
Hi, theleoqueen78, it is so nice to meet you. Poems that I wrote were often inspired by our close friendship with your uncle. He was so nice, friendly, considerate, a multi-talented man and a born poet. The physical distance between him and any of us was never an issue - distance really did not matter as long as he was here in this corner for us, ready to drop a comment to cheer us up and make us feel very special. HE was special, and his loss is a pain I will always carry with me. In joy we are so sad - in sadness merry! Enjoy Christmas and Happy New Year to you!

My computer broke last Saturday. Got smashed in a car door. Might be awhile before I get back into the game. Cafe
