There once existed a very shallow sea Now lying in a desert of shifting sands Footprints made 570 million years ago By who knows what kind of wandering bands A set of lonely tracks two parallel lines Staggered in rock and recorded in time It really is all sort of rather sublime Yesterday I walked through fresh snow Down came some freezing rain to fill The depressions made along a path precise Today the wind blew and everything froze And my footprints were now cast in ice So what all does this mean I suppose I really don’t know as I put into prose

About this poem:
Whose were more important mine or the oldest recorded footprints ever? Well, I don't really think mine will be around quite so long...but they looked cool anyway. :))
I liked this poem very much, yes everyones footprints leave a mark. The ones you describe in the snow are the best to see.

Your physical footprints might not be around to be found ... however ... by your words, deeds and actions you have left ineradicable footsteps in the fabric of time. It is up to us how these footprints are viewed by future generations. Liked your poem.

who knows what pronoucements shall be made of your trek in the distant future...hell, you may become the missing link....but anyone that breakfasts with me has little wonder of what became of the last sausage bit...
I like. We all leave our footprints on the earth and they mean something. Just know that some footprints leave an impact on life, but we never know who will make the impact.

Hi Yankee
I missed this very thoughtful write first time round (I must have been AWOL ). Evidence of our existence all those years ago is truly an amazing thing.
Best wishes

Great write Yankee4you. You are lucky you can mold your footprint there and hold it for long. Here in California, it is all dusty (west) where I am at and your footprint can't even last for a second... But of course, Truckee and the Sierra mountains are also filled with snow although it is so scarce this season..Thanks for sharing..
