The alarm goes off and I hit the floor It's times like this I wish for more, But the world wont wait for a guy like me Besides it's to the bathroom so I can _____, See the morning sunshine that welcomes the day Most every morning it happens that way, I can dilly and dally since I am retired Had I done it before I'd have been fired, It's nice to wake up and feel there's some drive It's comforting to know that I have survived, I'll now have my coffee - I take it black Can't watch the news - the TV's outa whack, I'll reread the paper to see what I've missed Surely there are ads for something I've wished, I wonder what I will do today These decisions blow my mind away, No worry- can't do it - so says my brain Thank goodness, Oh Lordy, it's beginning to rain, I have good intentions, that can't be denied I'll do it tomorrow and do it with pride, But now I'm tired, and why am I this way It's because I've been breathing all day.

About this poem:
Today we have had snow and it is real cold, so I've been doodling and this poem just popped in my mind. Hope you enjoy.

Of course I enjoy it so much Studecar and it makes life so much easier just by sharing all these feelings in writing and then reading all the others like you. I will read all your poems and read mine, too. Thanks again...It is lovely and a very simple but true passing of time for retired people. I am not quite there yet but hopefully soon.
