See unknown star far up in sky, Once again we’re far away from sweet home. Once again there’re cities between us, Lots of runway lights flashing below. Here all we have are mists and snow, Only dampish dawns and rainy seasons. Here on unexplored, unknown roads Tangled plots lie hiding and await us.
My hope is a compass on land, While luck is reward for the valor. As for song – one song is enough, So long as it takes me back home.
Please believe that here from distant land Many things are lost from view and vanish. Stormy clouds just thaw and melt away, Wrongs seem so ridiculous, not painful. One should only learn how best to wait, Keep an equal mind and be determined, So that in reward from life should get Scanty news of joy and happy tidings.
My hope is a compass on land, While luck is reward for the valor. As for song – one song is enough, So long as it takes me back home.
And how could one possibly forget All that has been left unsung till now, Dear tired eyes with lurking pain, Moscow livid blizzards sweeping down. Once again there’re cities between us, Life keeps parting us just as before. See unknown star far up in sky Shining in good memory to hope.
My hope is a compass on land, While luck is reward for the valor. As for song – one song is enough, So long as it takes me back home.

About this poem:
The song "Nadezhda" (Hope, also a woman's name) sung by Anna German. I used to love this song very many years ago - seems like eternity has passed. Just memories surfacing for a moment and vanishing again. You can also listen and enjoy the singer's beautiful voice.
