So much is loss in a dream awoken Fading away like little torn swatches Trying to recall her soft words spoken A Dali painting of melting watches
Sadly how thoughts mired into the lonely As the morning sun wisps away her face In thin air escapes my one and only Vanishes as consciousness takes its place
Me alone into this world to survive Being torn away from her flesh and blood As only happens when death does deprive Feelings washed away in a rising flood
A good memory better than a dream Is what only the spirit can redeem

Hi Yankee
This sonnet is perfect in all respects, and a most fitting tribute to your mother. A fine write.

Beautiful tribute to your dear Mother Yankee.
You are so good at these Sonnets. My Mother left me 15 yr ago... I still miss her wisdom... Her advice... The thing is when she passed away I suddenly felt old... Because I was the oldest in the family.
Dear Odette.....your comment really moved me....a loss of a mother is so visceral.....you feel it in the organs of the body...in the depths of the soul...perhaps more so than just in thoughts.....thank you for sharing that feeling...when I see my sister (the oldest in my family) I will share what you've said.....
Hi, Yankee4you, Though your sonnet weeps with tears of loss, it does not remain as thoughts mired into the lonely but rather in every line one finds thanksgiving for the love and life shared. A good memory better than a dream Is what only the spirit can redeem

This is just such a lovely sonnet Yankee, and the feeling of loss as though her memory is slowly melting like that Dali clock. The imagery is just lovely. Thanks so much for sharing this poetry.

Such a lovely affectionate poem this Yankee i dread the day our move passes on our lives will be changed forever as when our dad past away..the price we pay for love is the great loss ..void when they are no longer physically with us and our memories are precious
