MOON OF MY ANCESTORS

BLESSED BE!~

Equinox moon, rise in all your glory,
and with your rising, my emotions stir.
Upon your face, there unfolds such stories,
which speak of my ancestors...things that were.

Somewhere, there must be a book of knowing,
guarding the silence of forgotten needs.
Time-worn, musty, fragile pages,
embracing ancient secrets, hopes and deeds.

The face of the moon speaks of the olds ways;
the wisdom of those found on distant shores.
They who knew the land, the forests and fields.
I see misted lakes and a boatman’s ores.

I feel their lifted hearts fiercely dancing,
gathered for Ostara’s celebration.
The returning of the light from winter’s dark;
‘tis a time of hope and expectation.

The circle of life in each tiny seed,
stirs in the womb of thawing mother earth.
Comes the loving rains and the blessed sun;
from this sacred union is spring...her birth.

I speak to the moon of my ancestors
and my beating heart that calls out to them.
I light my candle to honor what was,
as the wind shares their voices...with me...once again.

About this poem:
I wrote this poem as a result of my trip to Ireland. It was actually SIX years ago that I went and May 8th was the day I returned to my front door. The connection I felt in Ireland was something so moving and deeply spiritual for me. Leaving was like being torn from my soul. I hope you enjoyed it!~

The seeing eyes of the moon.CelticPoet.
Season to season. Night by night.Imagine going up to the moon for a story every night of ones life.The moon sees it all but never changes her mysteriously soft gentle luminous face. I am not Irish but I feel the moon is there for us as an eternal beauty for us to feast upon and dwell on the miraculous thing we name life.
Thankyou for this poem. Spirituality exudes from it and I feel it.teddybear teddybear

Thanks Livy for your wonderful message. The stanza you pulled is my favorite in this piece also. I never felt in my life the way I did in Ireland. Even the trees spoke to me. It was enchanting and I am so blessed for all the good vibes I get here on the Corner. Hugs back my dear!~wine

Lady Morgana, what lovely things you wrote here. Thank you kindly. You words speak deeply to me and I know that women understand about the moon. It is a part of us...she who watches over us through the ages and keeps our secrets. Have a blessed weekend!~ Hugs!~ hug wine

CelticPoet...while my ancestry is mostly english...I admire your admiration of the moon...did you you know over the last 1,000 years or so the moon drifts slowly away from earth...which means i suppose only a few feet every hundred years or so...not much..I don't now...but still our ancestors admired something perhaps different and greater than us??
CelticPoet12
Hi Yankee. I have English ancestry and Irish. I think I mentioned that on this site somewhere that its Lancashire. I've never been there but would love to visit. The moon holds such mystery and intrigue. She's not just a planet that watches over the earth. She sees so much and has through the ages. From lovers sneaking off to secluded places to lose themselves in one another, to the clearing smoke of bloodly wars. She knows our hunger and desires. She trifles with us mere mortals and when all is said and done, SHE still hoovers above the generations that follow, totally uneffected. Still peaceful in her gaze. It fascinates me to no end, the moon. You could be right...our ancestors might well have admired something different and greater than us. Much to ponder. Sorry for going all metaphysical here. Thank you for your comments. Much appreciated. Celtic!~

Hi Celtic Poet...funny you mention Lancashire because that is exactly where my ancestry come from. I've never been there myself. I just can't imagine what they saw or felt or experienced beyond what I feel and see and understand...just having known them. does our undertsnading of these things possibly extend back beyond time itself?

Thanks Odett and Niah. Such stirring compliments. I am so glad you liked this poem. Yes, I do have a weakness for nature and mama moon. Oh my thank you Maxeen. How sweet of you. I have so many poems rattling around in my mind right now, I don't know how it is I can sleep. And to think I EVER had writer's block. Seriously. Back to the news about our fires currently burning here in AZ. If you or anyone is interested, here is the link:

copy and paste on Google line.
Have a good one my dear!~ Celticwave

Hi celtic..Wow!! I .Hope all will be ok !! thanks for the link Im going to take a look now.. look after yourself stay safe hugss hun.... Livy xheart wings hug

Thanks Livy. I am checking in with some folks down in Mesa to see how bad the smoke is down there. If the wind shifts again, it might be too bad to stay here. I am miles from the fire, but the smoke is a big concern as evening wears on. Thank you for your concern. I know they are still adamant about getting people evacuated out of Crown King. Have a good evening. Celtic!~wave
Maxeen_1
Hi cetic they are telling them all to get out its only 5% contained..wow it looks bad if it goes into the bowl and crown king. I tried emailing you but couldnt get through..X stay safeteddybear hug
CelticPoet12
Hi Livy, yeah 5% containment is not good. One of the fires was 45% contained and it is currently at 15%. Crazy. There are 7 fires going or there were last night. If for some reason it gets too bad with smoke again, I can go stay with a friend of mind. Thanks for your care Livy, you sweetie you. It's nice when people care about each other. Hugs and have a great evening. Gonna get some dinner now. wave

After visting with my mom and attending the first family reunion I've been able to, I feel so many emotions stirred up, rising to the surface of my consciousness. I have much to be thankful for. Much to ponder, and even more questions than I had before. Bottom line is gratitude for what's right in front of me, here and now. Blessings to all!~ Celticwave

I am feeling this poem today and wanted to dust it off and see if anyone else can relate who might be new here. I wish you all a grand weekend. Every day is precious and has much to offer. I'm thinking I will go to the lake today and enjoy being near the water, perhaps write something to post here. Blessings, Celtic
