A man must rise

A man must rise
from the decadent youth
stand tall in fear
and know the truth
for when he sheds
that infant tooth
a man will rise for sure

A man must rise
and face the blows
from the fists of the soul
are the jabs he throws
from the battered body
and the bloodied nose
a man will rise again

A man must rise
and lead the boy
shield him with love
and comfort the cry
when the boy falls
show him how to try
and a man will rise someday.
