i paid her to please me .. .

such a long time ago
and yet it is so clear.
i see so vividly,
my love of my dreams.

she was so beautiful
in her blood red array.
i loved her so badly
i felt hurt in a way.

i paid her to please me
on most saturdays' nights.
pushing speed insanely
delighting me mainly.

one day i was careless
and i had let her down,
was slow on reflexes,
could not stop her in time.

she purred like a kitten
after each change of oil.
renewing her sparkplugs
we made a lovely show.

she was my first motor,
sixty-five BHP.
her name was a FIAT
made me happy you see.

About this poem:
not a serious one obviously.
i was thinking of my coming of age, and obviously my first new car .. in my eyes the most beautiful little FIAT 128 in rosso-ossido colour. 2 doors, alloys and wide tyres. and yes i did let her down with my first motoring accident........aahhh, 35 years - such a long time, but can seem so 'like yesterday'. i hope this brought back some of your own pleasant memories :) xx virgosign

rolling on the floor laughing but made me laugh for another reason....my dad was buying me my first car because dance teachers work really late and it wasn't safe before midnight out alone in London....I saw a dear little Fiat... 500 I think, and my mum called it a rabbit hutch on wheels...dad wouldn't buy it, incase a red double decker bus ran over it....Memories....Niahteddybear yay

Hi, virgosign,
Though I missed this on its first revolution, I'm glad that I heard the motor purr this time! Enjoyed! And, who said love can't be bought!
