About this poem:

this is not a complete list of all the gun deaths since the sandy hook tragedy...and gun violence was much worse during this time span two years ago. for practical purposes, all the weaponry one should actually need in our nation is a shotgun and a single shot rifle...if they should need any at all (in my humble opinion).

Carnage on this scale should not be allowed in any country which considers itself civilized. Your list reads like a roll of the fallen in a major conflict.

This list, Hedi, is so impressive, same as the title of your poem, that I can hardly find words for conveying how I feel: it's awful, weapons should be banned altogether for the citizens who are not involved in law enforcement and military - in protecting lives of people. I don't even know whether in my country we are allowed by any amendment to any law to just go and and buy a weapon and keep it at home where there are children. There are procedures strictly regulating such matters of course, in your country and everywhere, but my humble opinion is that the process of recovery of confidence should begin with banning weapons for laymen not officially involved in keeping watch against immediate threat to life.
Wish there were peace and you no longer were obliged to make up such lists!

thanks marikia...although I didn't make any list but merely posted the headline of huffington post's on-line magazine. these accounts are all real and by highlighting any of the incidents, one could read the grim accounts. the lead story on huffpo has since changed. I wish they had left it up with all updates added, but I suppose they would have run out of ink by now.
