I will admit that I am old, My actions are no longer bold. The fires I had, I do remember, Now they're only glowing embers. I still know how to hold her hand And caress her cheek like any man. I'd share with her, that morning cup As Folger's says 'bout getting up. I still know how to give a hug And cuddle up so nice and snug. To feel my heart go wild and pound Just to know that she's around. And the times our two lips meet I'd feel sensations - head to feet. I'm not so old I can't recall The thrill of being at a ball, Bodies close and arms entwined We'd shuffle on, no cares in mind. "So what",we'd say,"we're having fun", What we'd share's like being young. More important than all above- We're not too old to be in love.

I really enjoyed this one. Although we all continue to age, love remains in our hearts and we long to share with another. Beautifully written.

Dear Larry,
We are never too old to fall in love..we have the same feelings we had when we were young..I loved this poem in all it's poignancy.

Thank you Paloma, dont't worry about the spelling, we all have that problem at times, then too the fingers just insist on striking the wrong key. You are so right about maturity. studecar
Stu.. Well written! After all, the emotion of love does not end with arrival of an aging body....it is from deep inside us, not measurable by our time in this world but by the ability of someone to awaken that emotion. It is perhaps one of life's greatest gifts that can always be shared....by the right person. Growing older still is full of promise....that we might one day share that gift of love with another.
You know what they say "There may be snow on the roof, but there is still fire in the hearth"! Nice poem. Thanks for sharing.
