Choose Me Instead

This intro may sound a little bit childish
But I figured you already know I could be a little foolish
Now I’ll warn you, I’m being a little bit selfish
Hopefully all your second thoughts will totally perish.

From friend to friend, I feel I must speak
Of words I long to say, the courage I seek
For chances must be taken no matter how bleak
Here’s to my long shot lucky streak.

Sometimes it’s hard to say the right thing the right way, you see
Whatever you call it, begging, imploring, a plea..
Before you call it and decide finally
Do reconsider, and maybe choose me.
