Rich Man Blues

The seats on my airplane are cracking
The porche leather seats are too
My private pond had some trespassers
They caught my five pound bass
I got the blues
I got em so bad
I got the rich man
The rich man blues
My silver set of dining wear is tarnished
My wine glasses have spots
My gold rimmed plates are all pitted
Cause I forgot you can't put them in the microwave
And I'm all out of Grey Poupon
I got those blues
I got them so bad
I got the 24 karat
I got the 24 karat rich man blues
I check out my portfolio and Google is down two points
I check out my savings and I'm only getting two percent interest
I check out my taxes and I'm paying 10 million in taxes
I voted for Reagan
I voted for Bush
I thought they were for me
I guess I was wrong
I got the blues
I got them so bad, bad, bad
I got the blue
The rich man blues
Those 24 karat blues
Those private plane, porche, mansion, eating lobster every day blues
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

About this poem:
Just having fun with rich people. It would be funny to see a depressed rich person. They must exist somewhere.

smmerwind, thanks for the comment. I think you nailed it about the truth of rich people. Maybe that's why Bob was always smiling, he was laughing at us back in the 90's, and now that he sold us down the river, he's into charity.dunno irish

lol MC saddly rich people love there money and people they can't love. like god says a man can not serve two masters. rich people have one master and thats money, they gather it,protect it,worship it,and spend it. One thing they will never have is the love of there fellow man. If they did have it they would not reconize it. I feel sorry for the poor rich folk because they will never have a real life only the fary tale life they have made.

As usual Mac you are factually correct.
Money doesn't insulate against
all challenges.
Often it compounds the helplessness.

In a life and death struggle with the
agents of certain mental/physical deterioration,
Your bank balance is irrelevant

Great write.

cameal6, thanks for your comment. I especially like not being able to serve two masters. I've never thought of feeling sorry for rich people, but with your explanation, I think I can.teddybear irish

watersandthewild, thanks for your comment. I think of the compounding of money I've wasted since recorded media came into existence, especially dvds. I have bought about five players since my first one in 2004. A professor told us of his rich friend who was always worried about someone stealing from him.dunno irish good luck
