There’s a story that the Gypsies know is true,
If your love wears your golden earrings she forever belongs to you!
Dancing round the Gypsies campfires burning very bright, gazing at the stars, thinking of my love one, dancing wildly and drinking throughout the night!

I knew a Russian girl, I knew her very well,
Her name was Tatiana and her name tinkled like a bell!
She was my Tovarich, Budesh moey devushkoi but she is not my forever love!

Ich kennen ein German Fraulein, mein liebe
I gave to her my heart
She left me and went to heaven, how sad!
She said we’d never, never part
Why did she have to go away?
I love and miss her more and more every night and day!

I drink to the stars in heaven because I know that she will be waiting there!

How perceptive of you, in actuality tis a sad musical
song of my heart which I have created with a musical theme!
roughly translated:
Under the thousand lanterns, thats where my love is lost

Where is my love, Why (where) have you gone under the stars,
I am so lost
