Shopping Madness

the crowds are stampeding through the mall,
spending what little they have,
anticipating sales and "events"...
packed in aisles...backs to the wall.

what is it they really hope to find?
something small, something big...
one of a kind?

no...just deeper in debt...
more stuff...no job to pay for the stuff...
and a new calendar to plan for next year's
blackest of Friday's.

About this poem:
I witnessed a stampede of "shoppers" last year during the infamous "day after Thanksgiving" sale. Enough said.

I honestly hate the malls for the reasons you gave here. And if need be that I must shop there, I go as early as possible when there's less of a chance of people rushing about and bumping into you. thumbs up Thoughtful write, GMS! applause teddybear
