Tears Sank Into The Sea

Two years past since our last day together
Tears streaming from my eyes’ salty rims
Heavy they sank into seas’ forever
Dwelling at bottom where my heart still swims

Trapped in the gurgle of my drowning breast
My pleas for mercy screamed like greedy gulls
Chased away from mere scraps off barren nest
For even love like nature has it culls

In a world that hides its love as treasure
Lost for ages in jungles overgrown
Love only given to me in good measure
Gaining not in value what was never known

Farewell to love hid in the floating chaff
Never wash up ashore on my behalf

I am so glad it is a past memory,
No matter how many times it happens
It always hits hard doesn't it?

Hi Chris

This superb sonnet is indeed melancholia writ large - the despair leaps out at the reader...

Best wishes

Ladyjewell, The hardest part is over....but with love sometimes you can just never surrender or lose that feeling you once shared...no matter how hard you try and bury the feelings...smitten

Yankee4you......what can one say....Pain of a break up can only fade, though never go away completely...I hope it is now easier to confront...but it makes beautiful poetry.....Kathyteddybear

Kathy, sometimes neither a thousand years nor 20 generations can ever equal the loss nor replace the one we hold so dear in our hearts....cool
