Tranquillity

It is snowing tonight!
How beautiful it is!
Everything is so lovely!
The first snow of the year!

I was all set for bed
when I decided
to put out the light and
to look out the window.

The fresh snow on the ground
and on the housetops
unspoiled by man or beast
appears so peaceful and serene

I see a pine tree
and the upper portion
of its branches and needles
are gently covered with snow.

I have seen that same tree
many times before
but never has it looked
as lovely as it looks tonight.

Very beautiful Socrates. However (yes there's always a however with me) but the snow would be more beautiful if it stayed on the roof and the trees and out of the road, parking lots, sidewalks and driveways! laugh laugh I know. I'm a pessimist!

Such simplicity in nature yet so magical and complex. Great prose depicting that dichotomy when one looks deeply!

I would have thought that it would be sunshine all year round in your part of the world Socrates.
Lovely poem with a deep sense of calm and appreciation.

As we leave winter behind, there are places that it is snowing right now. When I was a young girl, watching out the window before Christmas was so exciting to see the snow gently falling on the sidewalks, trees, etc. Nicely written poem, Socrates. SM snowglobe
