Sun rising, very slowly Through the mountain notch Where mist hangs over Yellow birches watch ‘Till long autumn nights Chill the air Their leaves will fall
Looking up, flocks of geese Sounded through the valley Shattering the peace An urgency for beating All their wings Fly in V-formation Then be gone
Falling apples, make a bruise Soft rotting smells Attract the bees For miles around With much expertise Suck in their mouths The sweet juicy ooze
Shrieking loudly, on a twig The startled blue jay Dance a jig and flirt Feet tightly frizz Banner ‘blue and grey’ Sounding the alarm Intruder alert!
Waterfalls, running over The slippery ledge Granite covered green With carpets of moss Growing down the ledge Under canopy of Glowing colored leaves
Winter, coming early Long shadows grow Birches are now bare Before the first snow Enters hurly-burly Whispers its wind A final, ‘Hush’
Hi, Yankee4you, Winter, coming early Long shadows grow Birches are now bare Before the first snow... Not ready for winter, please say it isn't so! Thanks for sharing these autumn images of birds, Falling apples and Waterfalls that leave the reader with A final, ‘Hush’.

Shadow... that is somehow the essence of poetry isn't it...to speak about what's familiar in an unique and unfamiliar way....appreciate you kind comments always...
Fiona.. I love to sit and just watch and listen to nature...as far away from the busy road and city life...and just make mental notes..or sometimes draft a text message to myself...whenever an idea pops...cause you know it ain't gonna last long...
D.H. always a pleasure to write an' share on here... learned a lot watching Fellsman 'specially about English Sonnet poetry...its very interesting to see how other poets style too...it's all good my friend....
