Captured by Life

Wrought with chains that bind my soul
I struggle to survive.
Could this be death I'm in right now?
Perhaps I'm still alive....
The clouds that haunt my vision and
the rain that fills my heart
fade me like the sunshine....
oh my darling never part.
The beacon of thy soul
illuminates my being-
my happiness takes flight....
my senses go careening
into nothing when you're gone
in delight when you are near
as you grow into my life
it is not the chains I fear.
The bonds of love are many
some to fear and some to learn,
some to give and some to cherish
some to hold and some to earn.
In the end the path is heavy with
the tread of two begun
holding on to each the other
with a path that shows just one.
