disabled but not distant he awkwardly holds the bat a chance to partake is reward enough for that his smile tells all of his immense joy compassion is served by the pitchers ploy a lob a miss but thats ok another closer and it is away but the boy who never had to run before encouraged by the crowd to do so .....more now the pitcher has a great arm with ball in hand he could easily disarm but once again compassion arrives the throw misguided as the lad strives to first base what happens now run they say and show him the way as they chase the stray off he goes once again his heart pounding as big as his grin he makes it to second not a ball in sight they point him to third he's off with all his might another chance to tag him out but thats not what this is about so once again a thrown wide ball to see him make home and not to fall.......

About this poem:
how a disabled boy asks his father if the kids in the park would let him play.......at his father's request this is what happened........a chance to win by the fielding side.......but sacrificed to watch joyous pride...........the child passed away the next winter.........i often wonder about the future of this world and am constantly reminded that is in good hands ........

the choices we make shows the underlying factors of who we are...love, respect, compassion for others...just a few of those factors that determine our choices.
Hi, Nuwahri61, ...another chance to tag him out but thats not what this is about… In situations such as the one the poet poignantly describes, we know who wins........ We all do. Thank you for sharing.
